Kris's Funeral 6-7-07

Thank you for the phone calls and emails giving our family your support and prayers after hearing about the death of our nephew Kristopher. No matter how much one accepts death as a part of our lives when one of our own dies it is still painful, especially so when it is a young person.

Kristopher Lawrence Becker’s funeral was yesterday, June 6th. It was a very nice service. Funerals have gone high tech (it has been quite awhile since I have been to a funeral), there was a very nice video presentation set to some of Kris’s favorite music of photo’s of Kris’s life. It caused a lot of tears in its poignancy. It was a packed house with probably three fourths of the people there young friends of Kris’s. They had to put seats out in the lobby for the overflow; he touched a lot of people in his 21 years.

Near the end of the service Rondee, Kris’s younger brother walked up to the casket, followed by his Mother, then both of his older half Brothers and finally his Father who put his arms around them all. It was the saddest family portrait I had ever seen, a family gathered together and one of them lying dead in a box.

Kris’s parents Ron and Kristi both spoke at the end of the service, asking that no one else does as Kris did by drinking and driving and putting another family through the pain that they are going through.

Michelle, her husband Darel and Andrea were with us which was nice. We were glad that we were in the area and could be here for the family. The last time we had seen Kristopher was at a Kaiser Medical Facility in Salem, Oregon three years ago. It was a very chance meeting, he saw us walk past the waiting area that he was sitting in waiting for someone and we enjoyed talking with him. I’m sorry I don’t have a current picture to post here.

Again, Thank You all.
