Catching up in pictures

Replanting abou 50 gladiolus bulbs.  May be a mistake though.
The other beds that I dug these out of have hundreds of little baby
grass-like blades of glad baby bulbs that got left behind growing away.

Bags of bulbs left over and off too a new home

Shasta was white on our way up to Oregon two weeks ago, but still a lot of dirt showing.
We had bad wind all through California.  We stayed the night at a motel in Grants Pass
that took dogs and we got little sleep because Gracie woofed or barked at every noise she heard all night.
The next day we stopped and visited Aunt Millie and Uncle Marty for a couple of hours and then onto Michelle's.

The Salem area was blooming like crazy, lots of magnolias.

Trees in bloom, azaleas, forsythia, it was pretty everywhere.

Gracie settling in though she and big Bailey had to keep
their distance.  I was afraid Gracie would get hurt...she was snarky, Bailey wanted to play, but doesn't have much control of her big paws and enthusiasm.

Michelle and I

Look who snuck in...haha.

On our way back to California with Seth for Spring break.

Klamath river rest area stars!

Forsythia up close

Shasta had melted off a bit in the four days since we had passed by.

Hard to see with the rails, Shasta Lake is so low.

We decided to go to Ukiah so Seth could see his cousins, as it had been awhile.
Andrea, Larry and Connor (Chloe is behind him).

Chloe looking on.  Seth and Ian had a blast together.

My plaid boys, Larry with Connor.

Seth is 9 and Ian is 11.

Last leg to Grandma and Grandpa's house, sleeping away.
More later....

This beautiful light caught my eye through our bedroom window while I was making the bed.  I grabbed the camera and ran outside and was lucky enough to have the picture turn out as fantabulous as what I was seeing...doesn't always happen.

Cool Lizards

Here is one of the lizard's battles that I got pictures of the other day.  I still have more to pick from and edit, but later.  I don't want to give you all the reptilian heeby jeebies at once.
Break dancing?

It begins.

They jump, they twist, they even seem to fly sometimes!
The shadows of this one are cool.

Flip

This guy was like that for a few frames of pictures...

Until over he goes, breaks the hold and....

They begin again.

Spring is here

Busy, busy with stuff outside.  My twenty new David Austin old english roses arrived on Thursday and we got them all planted.  They are now planted in optimum conditions and are already growing.  I can't wait for them to bloom and every year get prettier and prettier.  I added three in pots to the deck, they will all be scrumptious too.  These are a lot of before pictures so you can be wildly impressed with all the rose pictures I will flood you with all summer!

The roses soaking for a couple hours.
We took a walk to the pond.  The rains had filled it to overflowing.

These butterflies are our only pollinators so far.
Since our wild beehive swarmed away last summer,
we have yet to see any honeybees this spring.

Three new roses potted up, pink, red and yellow.

The new rose bed from the deck.

Seventeen babies in six colors, I went for dramatic clumps of color.

I can't wait for these to be all bushed out and in bloom!

The moon rising tonight!

I got some fabulous lizard battle pictures.  This is a preview.
That lizard on the right facing us is having a pain on his back.
The crazy lizard that has a hold of his back is upside down.
They were flipping and flying all over the place, it was cool to see.

Moss, oaks, lichens and more

Hello!  We've been busy here at home.   We are grateful for the rain for two reasons, we need the water here in drought stricken California and we get to stay inside cocooned and dry doing things we enjoy doing indoors.

After one of the rains this week I wandered down to listen to the water flow along its path at the bottom of our "meadow" and all the luscious green skirts the oaks are currently wearing caught my eye.  So many different lengths and textures!

I imagine how it would be to be very tiny on this tree
and these would be like towering redwoods!

I looked UP!  Another whole world on this branch!
