And Catching up to Today!

Whew, getting all the way caught up.  The baby deer were a couple of days ago.  The roses were yesterday, as was the bathing hummingbird (they love showering when the roses drippers are on).  Today was the monarch butterfly, not easy, they take off if you get too close, while the crazy lizard just sits there and lets me get as close as I want.

Most of the older rose bushes are in their lull period, putting on their new growth for bloom round two.  The carnations are winding down as are the clematis, but after a rest they'll all be back.

I must share that if you've never had a facial, you must try it!  My skin looks like it is glowing, still, two days later and a few miles have been taken off...hahaha.

Oh, last night while I was outside helping Gracie find grass to eat, she had an upset stomach and she was grazing like a goat (grass is hard to find around here) a large fox went cruising by us like it thought it was invisible or we were...hahaha.  Larry hollered from the deck (we were behind the shop), see the fox on the path?  Well, no, but it seemed there was another smaller fox heading right for us.  They aren't fearful and we suspect they were the ones that got in our garbage last night.  Bad wildlife.

This is one of the new roses...so ruffly

More catching up photos

Boscobel, one of the newbies

See the hummingbird?

Amazing how quickly they grow.  The new rose bed.

My purple salvia box, there are three varieties here.

After locating the weird bzzz bzzz sound I discovered this bug digging a hole.

And surprisingly quickly, it would grab a few particles, fly out and away from
the hole several inches, drop the grains/pebbles and back in.

I have no idea what kind of bug it was, nor did I keep watching it forever.
The next day though.....

The hole was covered back and even with these little rocks which would have
been entertaining to watch the bug move.  I suspect it laid eggs in there.

A new arch we got to see if we could get that huge white
clematis to climb that direction and mix with the roses.

We spent Sunday of the holiday weekend in our lovely screen room
getting stuff done on our laptops.  It was warm, but it
is in the shade of an oak tree and there was a lovely breeze blowing.

Matilija poppy doing great.  Large flowers and those stems are 5 to 6 feet long.

The Garden

Another week gone, working in the yard, rearranging things and observing nature.  I took a bunch of pictures of the garden a week ago and forgot to post them, so here they are.  It has already changed in the eight days since I took these.
