Sun Valley, AZ 10-21

What a loonnggg night. This train track was very active. There would be three or so trains going by about every 3 minutes and then nothing for awhile and then every half hour, to 15 minutes. Some trains whistles aren’t very loud and others sounded like they were right in our trailer. Some engineers would just do the basic and others thought they were musicians or something. Whew, we did sleep but not very restful.

We were on the road by 9:45. Another lovely sunny day, breezy, but not the stiff head wind we had yesterday. It was beautiful between Milan and Gallup. Lots of stunning red mesas and rocks. We gained another hour today upon entering Arizona. We are in Sun Valley just east of Holbrook, AZ on I40. We landed at 11:30 and drove 147 miles. We are in a teensy PA park off the highway but we hardly hear it in our particular spot. Not the most scenic park we have ever been in, but certainly not the ugliest. We went into Holbrook for some groceries at Safeway. Holbrook is pretty good sized and is on the route 66 so there are lots of interesting old motels and signs. We are staying here two nights, tomorrow we want to drive through the Petrified Forest. There are petrified logs lying all over the place along the south side of the highway.
