Oh, I almost forgot. In Halstead there is an old historic hardware store that the present owner, a woman, has restored. It was really a remarkable job she has done. All the original wood cabinetry, shelves and bins have all been refinished and every inch of the place is in use. Just like in the old days! All the little bins and drawers are full of important “stuff”. It was a cool place to poke around in and see all that was there. Being a former “shop” owner I found the extensive inventory mindboggling! You expected the ghosts of the guy working on the tractors out back to come walking through at any moment! It wasn’t loaded with a lot of modern products, she retained its “old” atmosphere by stocking it with antiques and hardware. It truly felt like a step back in time. I just hope it survives because as we have found in quite a few of the farming towns, even though they are full of lovely, old historic buildings a lot of the shops are empty or going out of business. Sad.

Here is the promised pic of turtles, maybe you can see the three turtle heads poking out of the water. Also another shot of our trailer and truck from another vantage point and a crop that is currently being harvested around here. I know one of my farmer friends know what this is and I would appreciate an email! We have yet to see it in any other state that we have been in so
