Freedom for Tumbleweeds! 8-9-08

These first two pictures are of the weeds that had grown up in our absence. Future tumbleweeds are what most of them are...we had gotten most of them out where the trailer parks before we pulled it in on Wednesday but all the rest of the yard had to be done. Larry relieved them of their roots the next day...took him a couple hours.

Thursday night we had a lovely thunder storm off in the distance that never came right over us, but as it was during sunset we were gifted with a stunning show of rainbows and colored rain.

Yesterday Larry packed all the tumbleweeds into the back of the truck, drove out into the desert and set them free! He released them back into the wild. The tumbleweeds were reluctant to leave the security of their bed in the back of the pick-up truck. They had to be released by the rake one by one...they were hanging onto each other tightly with trepidation. They had heard stories of the great desert but had spent their days rooted and fenced in! As they hit the ground they quivered with anticipation, comforted by the tumbleweeds that were still rooted there in that huge expanse of open space. Slowly, as the wind teased their limbs they started to move towards freedom. As the winds pushed them harder they took off into the wilds of the desert...Free at last, tumb, tumb, tumbling freely as a tumbleweed should! As Larry drove away he took one last glance in his rearview mirror thinking how lucky they were that it wasn't a burn day.
