Rainy snow & leaks 12-16-08

Sunday and Monday were quite the blustery days here. Big wind and pouring rain mixed with snow. Yesterdays low was 36 and the high was 38 and no sun to warm us up! When it finally quit raining in the afternoon and the clouds lifted we could see all the hills and mountains surrounding the Pahrump basin were all covered with snow.

If you look hard in the middle of the first picture you can see the snow covered hills west of us. This picture was taken out of the window of the trailer…we had a lovely view.

Sadly all the blowing rain found a couple places to leak into the trailer. It started dripping in pretty steadily at the top of the window over our dinette and in exploring that leak Larry found the window behind the dinette in the end of the slideout was leaking too. A side effect of living in a home that gets hauled down the road, bouncing and twisting and then baking in the sun. The caulking has dried out…Larry cleaned it all up and resiliconed around the windows for now. When we hit warmer weather the windows will have to be removed and reputtied; that stuff is supposed to be squishy and fill up gaps and we were concerned that it is far too cold to use here, so a future project.

This second picture is of our decorations for Christmas this year. Both of our socks were knit by my mother. Mine is around 45 years old and it still looks great! Larry’s sock is 31 years old…wow. What is neat about the socks is that Mom had a little stock pile and even though she has been gone since 1990 my Grandson’s and Son-in-law’s all have socks made by her also…I just had to add their names to the tops! Our little Poinsettia is live.

This last picture shows you how the side-by-side hook-ups work, we have a neighbor now and my view of the western hills is gone for now. BUT, I must add that for side-by-sides these are better than most because the hook-ups are staggered and we aren’t smack up against each other and peering into each others rigs.

Larry has an Uncle & Aunt here in Pahrump that we haven’t seen in 21 years, Uncle Robert lived in Hawaii until just a couple years ago when he moved here to Pahrump, NV. It will be interesting to find out how one moves to Pahrump, NV after living all one’s life in Hawaii. We will be seeing them later this week.
