Happy Spring 3-23

We took a drive the other day from here, down 49 to Camino on 50 then to Shingle Springs where we did some shopping at Walmart and then had a great lunch at a large Mexican restaurant there off the highway. Then we decided to drive on down to the Costco at Folsom and then back to Auburn along the Folsom/Auburn highway through old town Folsom and Granite Bay. There were some monstrous mansion/estates through there...wow. We drove past this lovely pink orchard just north of Placerville along 49. The daffodils I bought at the market but they are out on the picnic table...their scent was making our eyes burn...they are lasting a LONG time out there in their peanut butter jar of water.

Isn't it beautiful when the valleys and foothills move to spring? I love all those drives you took. It is quite a show to see all those estates in the foothills. An evidence of lots of money somewhere, isn't it?

Around here the redbud is starting to bloom. When we lived on Dog Creek, there was something blooming from earliest spring to dry summer. All the way from the wild lilies (I guess that was what they were, at least they looked like lilies), manzanita, trees, wild sweet pea....it was a gorgeous show of life. I'll always miss our drive from I 5, out Dog Creek Road and down our driveway. We even had wild lupine bordering our drive to our home.
