Two weeks catch up

Ironwood tree
Dang!  We feel like we are living a form of the movie "Groundhog Day".  Every time we blink it's Friday and another week has blipped by.  Over two weeks now since I've toddled over to the clubhouse to post here!

What have we been up to you ask?  Watching people pull out of here.  It's the end of the season for the snowbirds.  The Canadians can only be here 6 months and as many come the first of October they are home by first of April.  Many from the states head out to get back to do their taxes and/or it just gets too warm.

No idea what lives here, but they like a smooth threshold!

It is pretty sparsely populated now compared to when we arrived in January.  Several have moved in, worker bees we call them.  There's a lot of power line installations going on around here.  And Palo Verde is going to have one of the three reactors shut down for its refueling that happens every 18 months.  Workers needed for these events come from all over the country and are here for 7 to 8 weeks.

We've learned quite a lot talking to a couple of people who have come here to work there.  This is quite the efficient plant.  Currently our world could not operate without nuclear power.  At least this plant is constructed to withstand things that we can only imagine.  Better than in France where they are just in regular warehouses...we've been told, I didn't check that out myself.  Google Palo Verde Power plant and you'll learn all kinds of things about it.

There is so freaking much trash on the desert.
We've been taking our desert walks.  Finally I have finished the job of archiving two years of my photos.  What a huge job.  I hope I never get that far behind again.  We've been finishing up dental work and just doing our daily living.  We have really enjoyed watching the desert bloom.  Most of it is about done.  The creosote and palo verde trees are going to seed now and their bright yellow glow is dulling.

A shorty, but still interesting.

The Ocotillos are blooming all over the desert now.

Home is in the middle of this pic. Our travel trailer with my burgundy car in front.
