HOT!

Second day of record breaking heat.  Good thing I got the house closed up early, because around 12:30 the power went out, came back browned down for a bit and then gone for the next three hours.

Soon after the power went out Larry said a fire had broken out and shortly there after the planes were circling over our house...well that is never a good thing.  The fire was a concern if they didn't get a handle on it quickly with the heat, the direction of the wind and where it was....danger, danger!

This picture I tiled together, I was playing to see
how good it could be seen on the blog.
They had a tanker make a drop ( which we missed seeing, it took us a bit to figure out we could see things if we walked down the driveway a bit) which cooled the fire down a bit, the ground crews were finally able to make it in and the helicopter got busy with dropping water.  It was neat seeing it work.  It would sometimes stream the water down all in one spot and other times make a broad sweeping drop with the water.  The tanker made another drop which I got the pictures of and with more bucket work from the helicopter they got a handle on it though it slopped over a time or two.  It was danged hot standing out there watching things, but after about an hour they got a good handle on it and it was contained to about three acres.

When the house got too stuffy we went out, dragged chairs with us and sat down in the green shady meadow where a warm breeze was better then stuffy house air.  We took a walk this evening about the time the sun went down and it was still 90.  Cooler tomorrow though!

Air attack is the bright dot at the left top, tanker circling the fire.

This is from the crest of the hill looking out
above our neighbor's.

I'm heading to bed, it's 11:30 p.m. and eighty degrees.  This early heat has accelerated my garden, the gladiolus are getting ready to bloom, two weeks earlier than last year.
